Food Pantry and Resource Centers

Partnering with Neighbors in Need

Since 1988, the working poor have depended on the Central Dallas Food Pantry for support. Now the highest volume food pantry in North Texas, the Resource Center hosts over 50,000 visits per year.

Here is a view of the Resource Center in action:

Thanks to local churches, schools, youth groups and companies, we provide nearly
20,000 pounds -- or nearly 10 tons -- of food EACH WEEK to people who might not otherwise afford it. Click here to find out how your group can help by hosting a food drive or support drive.

We are located at 409 North Haskell, just four blocks south of Gaston Ave. and several blocks east of the Baylor University Medical Center.

Staffed by over 100 volunteers per week, this program provides free food, low cost clothing and housewares. The Resource Center also provides referrals to other community services (i.e. job training, medical care, legal assistance, etc.).

Over 90% of our volunteers originally came to us to receive food. By partnering with our neighbors in need, we are building a genuine community in the inner city.

CDM's Food Pantry and Resource Center is always needing donated funds to buy food at the food bank. Please give funds and not food as we can buy eight to ten times more with your dollar than you can at the grocery store because of our special discount.

The Resource Center always needs donations of hard-to-get items, including deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, facial tissue, toilet tissue, paper towels, toothpaste and toothbrushes, panty hose, women's hygiene products, baby diapers, laundry detergent, Windex cleaner and Pine Sol floor cleaner, trash bags and the following hard-to-get pantry items:   macaroni and cheese, butter, canned tomatoes, canned beans, box cereals, soup, sugar, canned tomato sauce, flour and canned vegetables.
